Shelter House Dinner

Description: We will be providing an evening meal for the Shelter House. Remember…over 1500 people are served by the Shelter House per year (2005), 600 of these were women and children, the Shelter House serves 280 meals per week, we need only 14 volunteers for our evening!
Shifts:5 volunteers to each make a casserole, 4 volunteers to each make 2 dozen cookies/bars, 2 volunteers to each prep vegetables, 3 volunteers to serve.  More information about the meal is in the April newsletter.

Fired Up! Iowa City Bowl Painting

Description: We will be painting bowls to donate to the Domestic Violence Intervention Program Annual Souper Supper to be held Jan 31, 2008. This would be a good event to share volunteering with a child. Food or drink may be brought to Fired Up! Iowa City. You will share the cost of picking out a bowl to paint.

Iowa Children’s Museum Monster Mash

Help kids have a great time at ICM's Annual Halloween Party. Volunteers will facilitate Halloween activities and greet; interact with visitors. Volunteers are encouraged to wear appropriate Halloween costumes.

11:30 am-2:15 pm or 2:00 pm-4:30 pm

Solstice Stride

The Solstice Stride is a new event for the Iowa City Junior Service League. On June 23, 2007 we will hold a family fun 5K run/walk with a post-party. The proceeds from this event will go towards our $50,000 fundraising commitment to the Shelter House in Iowa City. Our hope is to make this an annual event for the ICJSL and charities it supports.

Run/Walk Information

Date and Time: Saturday, June 23, 2007
                       6:00 p.m. Solstice Sprint (8 & under)
                       6:30 p.m. Family 5K Run/Walk
                       Location: Coralville S.T. Morrison Park
                       Start and finish at the Coralville Rec Center

Entry Fees:      10 per child (13 and under)
                       $20 per adult, $45 per family,
                       Race Day registration 4:30-5:30 p.m.

     Sneak Peek: Friday, November 3rd, Hall of Fame

     Houses will be open 6-8 p.m.
     Cocktail party at the Hall of Fame from 7-10 p.m.

     Tickets will be on sale for $40/ticket

     Sneak Peek will include a tree auction
     as well as special treasures for silent auction,
     members do have an opportunity to sponsor a tree

     Holiday Home Tour: Sunday, November 5th

     Tours are from 1-6 p.m., tickets are on sale
     for $10.00/ticket
